Olympic medalist Gong Lijiao claims win at IAAF Diamond League in Rome

ROME --- Chinese shot-putter Gong Lijiao has won first place in a season best result of 19.56 meters during the 2017 IAAF Diamond League.

Rio Olympic silver medalist Gong, 28, produced five more puts surpassing the 19 metre barrier, winning over runner-up Americans Daneilla Bunch (18.95m) and Olympic Champion Michelle Carter (18.86m)

With a win bagged earlier in Shanghai, it is the second time for Gong to claim a victory in this series of the Diamond League.

The Diamond League is an IAAF annual series of track and field event that awards points based on competitions in hosting cities across the globe.
