Cahill joins China's Hangzhou Greentown

(Xinhua) Updated: 2016-02-22 15:40
HANGZHOU, China - Australia international Tim Cahill officially signed a six-month contract with Chinese super league side Hangzhou Greentown here on Monday.

When Cahill was axed by Shanghai Greenland, there was a rumor that Hangzhou would be his next destination, though Hangzhou Greentown denied at the first time.

The club management had previously aimed to beef up defence and midfield, but the injury suffered by Brazilian striker Anselmo Ramo changed the plan.

"The medical team has yet to assess Ramo's injury, but it doesn't look good," a club official said.

The 37-year-old Australian international striker played three consecutive World Cup games and scored more World Cup goals than any other Asian players in history.

The Australia legend joined Shanghai Greenland in 2015 and scored 11 goals in 28 games.
