Young people must learn lifesaving skills

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-07-25 20:55

Authorities and educational organizations, especially in rural areas, should take responsibility for training students in lifesaving skills, said an article in Beijing Youth Daily (excerpts below).

Summer holidays should be a time of joy and fun for young people but too often they are marred by tragedy on the water.

The key to preventing these tragedies is to teach young people lifesaving skills so that if they, or their friends, get into trouble they can deal with it.

To prevent accidents in the water, local authorities and educational organizations must take action to train students, especially in rural areas.
