Dialogue bodes well for Sino-US ties

The fifth China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue from July 10 to 11 in Washington indicated some new changes in Sino-US relations, said an article in People's Daily (excerpts below).

The dialogue was held as both China and the United States enter difficult stages of economic structural adjustment.

Despite this, China and the US are maintaining this dialogue mechanism in a bid to resolve differences and conflicts. This positive momentum demonstrates that bilateral ties are progressing both in terms of quality and stability.

As the world's top two economies, the US and China can only overcome problems through cooperation and coordination.

The two economies account for about 30 percent of the world total at the moment, a figure that is set to rise to 50 percent by 2030.

China and the US' common developments benefit the world. For example, the two countries' financial supports for Africa are a kind of interaction of strategic competition as well as a kind of win-win cooperation.

Sino-US relations will progress based on such a model. This interaction will deepen mutual understandings between the two countries.

China and the US are becoming more specific and straightforward in their dialogue. The cyber security issue is just one such topic. Communications between China and the US mark a new beginning for the establishment of rules for cyberspace.

Sino-US ties are moving forward, slowly but surely.
