11. Chinese honeybee

The Chinese honeybee (Apis cerana cerana) is one of Liaoning’s top 10 breeds and produces a honey that is popular in Japan and South Korea.

Kuandian county in has 20,000 swarms of the bee, accounting for a tenth of the nation’s total and half of the province’s. To protect the bee and increase apiculture, the Provincial Bee Stock Station designated Kuandian a breed conservation base and worked with the Kuandian Wanjun Apiculture Co, Ltd on a conservation program, with 200,000 yuan in backing. By 2010, there were 35,000 Chinese Honey Bee swarms and the output value had reached 100 million yuan.
