Killing spree at Texas military base

A US army psychiatrist about to be deployed to combat overseas opened fire on Thursday at a US military base in Texas. 12 people were killed and 31 others were wounded. But it is unclear what prompted the rampage. Authorities shot the gunman, and he is now in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

Karzai effectively handed second term

Afghan President Hamid Karzai was effectively handed a second term earlier this week when his main opponent, Abdullah Abdullah pulled out of a constitutionally mandated runoff, arguing that the process was too corrupt to give a fair result. The move has further damaged Karzai’s legitimacy as he works with his NATO allies and the United States to fight the Taliban and al-Qaida militants.

Worries continue to grow over the spread of the H1N1 virus as a Russian man became the first foreigner to die of the disease in China earlier this week. Mubanshuiyin: Replacating the irreplaceable

Ink paintings are one of the oldest known Chinese art forms. With just a few strokes in limited colors, beautiful landscapes and vibrant animals can be brought to life.

But art by the old masters is hard to find, and harder to afford, so the question is, how to make these masterpieces of ink accessible for the average Joe.

The block printing process involves three mains stages: the tracing of the original artwork, carving of the woodblocks, and printing.
