Routes set to boost tourism

By Li Wenfang | China Daily | Updated: 2014-12-27 08:09

Tourism authorities in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region are expecting explosive growth in travel by people in neighboring Guangdong province, with high-speed train service between the areas launched on Friday.

The number of trips is projected to exceed 30 million in the coming year, said Jia Yucheng, deputy director of the tourism administration of Guangxi.

Guangdong is the No 1 source of tourists to Guangxi, said Jia.

"Travel to Guizhou and Guangxi is sure to receive a boost. Such stimulation has been seen in travels by Guangdong people to Xiamen in Fujian province, which was linked up with Guangdong by high-speed rail late last year," said Xiao Yu, domestic supervisor at China Travel International (Guangdong).
