Tips for traveling

China Daily | Updated: 2012-11-05 08:11

Elderly people, children and pregnant women are advised to stay indoors during snowstorms.

If you do go out, keep warm and wear anti-slip, cotton-padded shoes or sneakers rather than leather shoes or shoes with plastic soles.

Walk slowly and try to stay on cleared surfaces to avoid slipping, and watch out for hazards that may be covered by snow, such as potholes or broken manhole covers.

Dry your shoes before driving so your feet don't slip on the pedals. Also, drive slowly and avoid braking suddenly. Do not park under a tree, because thick snow may break branches and cause damage to your vehicle.
