Dead J, aka Shao Yanpeng, a veteran DJ, has teamed up with Song's Shadowplay. Shao is the founder of Waveform, another electronic music brand under Tree Music that focuses on distributing electronic music albums from both Chinese and foreign DJs.

The two have been throwing parties at unconventional locations, such as cafes and art district warehouses, and combining live electronic music performances with other art genres.

Their last collaboration was on the 26th floor of an apartment in Beijing. It featured floating video screens, dancers, lighting and a lot of rapid movement behind the DJ decks.

"With artists from Berlin and Paris, two avant-garde electronic music bases in the world, we will offer a cross-geographical and unique cultural interpretation of electronic music through this festival," Shao says.

They have also invited tattoo and graffiti artists from Paris and Berlin to hold workshops during the festival.

Nick V, a veteran DJ from Mona Paris, and Berlin-based Gerogina from House of Melody will bring Voguing, a dance form developed in discos in the late 1970s, to Beijing for the first time.

"Dance is a strong element of my party. It brings a lot of positive energy to the crowd. Hopefully we can spread the idea to others around the world," says Nick V.

"On a personal note, I have never been to China. I'm very interested to come over and discover the country. I've heard a lot about China. I hear things are moving fast over there. I'm very curious to see the clubs and to see how people approach them."
