Taiwan's current administration increasingly disturbs cross-Straits exchange: spokesman

Xinhua | Updated: 2017-06-14 16:08
BEIJING - Taiwan's current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration has increasingly stymied cross-Straits communication and cooperation, a spokesman from the Chinese mainland said at a news briefing Wednesday.

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to concerns that the trips of some mainland personnel in Taiwan were being strictly controlled by the DPP administration.

The spokesman said that the mainland encouraged and supported cross-Straits people-to-people exchange and cooperation in various fields.

"Since May 20 last year, the DPP administration has undermined the political foundation for the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations and impeded exchange and cooperation between cross-Straits compatriots," Ma said.
