BEIJING - A strong cold front will sweep most of China during the next three days, the National Meteorological Center forecast on Monday.

Many regions in northern, central and southwestern China can expect strong gales and a plunge in temperatures of 6-10 degrees Celsius from Monday to Wednesday, the observatory said.

Temperatures may drop by 12 degrees Celsius in the Shandong Peninsula and some areas to the south of the Yangtze River, according to the forecast.

Affected by the weakened tropical cyclone Phailin, the southwestern part of Tibet will be hit by moderate and heavy snow on Monday and Tuesday, with some areas seeing blizzards, the observatory said.
