BEIJING - China has about 85 million disabled people that share the Chinese dream of rejuvenating the nation and living a better life, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Tuesday.

The Chinese dream describes the prospect of national prosperity, rejuvenation and people's happiness, said Zhang Gaoli, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, in his opening address to the sixth national congress of the China Disabled Persons' Federation.

"The dream belongs to every Chinese person, including the 85 million disabled people," said Zhang, also China's vice premier, in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

Tuesday's session was attended by Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan and Wang Qishan, as well as more than 600 delegates across China.

The concept of the Chinese dream was put forward by President Xi last year.

Zhang said the system of laws, regulations and policies regarding disabled people had been completed and a system of social security and services has been established.

The social atmosphere of helping disabled people has grown stronger and the disabled people's living conditions have greatly improved, he said.

The role of disabled people should be given full play, and social force must be extensively mobilized in this regard, Zhang urged.
