BEIJING - Nearly 10.18 million disadvantaged disabled people received aid from 2008 to 2012, with 4.88 million people rising above the poverty line, according to the China Disabled Persons' Federation on Friday.

The federation said that the subsidies have helped 318,000 rural disabled people in five years, and 5,226 poverty-alleviation bases have been set up to support 102,000 disabled people to find employment.

China is maintaining stable development of social security for the disabled. More than 2.8 million disabled city dwellers have social insurance and 4.99 million disabled urbanites now have basic medical insurance.

The pension insurance system for disabled people now covers both rural and urban areas nationwide.

According to the federation, in five years, more than 20 million urban and rural disabled people have received social relief, including collective supply and daily life guarantees.
