Provincial political advisor probed for bribery

Xinhua | Updated: 2013-09-10 20:11

BEIJING - A senior political advisor from South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is under probe for taking bribes, China's top prosecuting body said in a statement Tuesday.

The Supreme People's Procuratorate has decided to put Li Daqiu, former vice-chairman of the Guangxi Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, under investigation for the alleged criminal offence, as well as "impose coercive measures" on him in accordance with the law.

Li was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and public office for discipline violations on Sept 4.

According to an earlier statement issued by the CPC disciplinary watchdog, Li took advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others and accepted a large sum of money and property by himself or through his family relatives.
