A homeless man who heroically saved a woman from killing herself received 10 job offers and donations worth 2,600 yuan ($430), the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

Liao Guofeng saved the woman from drowning at a river in Foshan, Guangdong province, on Thursday night. A doctor treated Liao for cuts to his feet he received from broken glass on the riverbed as he pulled the woman to safety.

The police substation of Nanhai district in Foshan is preparing the paperwork to apply for good Samaritan awards for Liao.

The 2,600 yuan donation included 500 yuan from a rescue station and 50 yuan from the woman's husband.

Liao dismissed suggestions that the donations did not reflect his bravery: "I don't think it is too little. I did not save her for money. I feel honored as people are looking at me for something good that I did."
