The ticket hall and plaza have been listed as red zones for lost children at the Beijing Railway Station, the Beijing Morning Post reported on Thursday.

While the security checkpoint is the most common place to lose baggage, the newspaper reports, citing sources from the station which has a registered daily flow of 220,000 during the summer travel peak.

Passengers get distracted when buying tickets and their children easily wander off among crowds at the ticket hall and the plaza in front of the station, according to police.

At the security checkpoint, passengers sometime forget to retrieve small luggage after checks, said police, who added that on average five cases of lost baggage occur every day since July 1.
