A 9-month-old baby boy in a stroller was crushed to death by a woman driver coming out of an underground parking lot in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, on Wednesday, Kunming Metropolitan Times reported on Friday.

According to the surveillance video, the woman driver, who is at her 40s, stopped her car upon seeing two women with a baby stroller. She then immediately accelerated, driving right into them and pushing the trio two meters away.

The baby was badly injured but reports vary about whether the baby died at the scene or later in a hospital. Injuries to the two women were not reported. The police called it a traffic accident and are further investigating the matter.

According to media reports, the entrance to the Meijingxincheng complex, the site of the accident, is only accessible by a steep stairway. Many complex residents reportedly use the entrance of the parking lot as a shortcut.
