Deliveryman digs deep for customer

A deliveryman in Hubei province buried a package in the ground near the recipient's home for her to retrieve later, after failing to catch her at home several times, Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

On July 14, a 19-year-old delivery worker surnamed Yang, made his sixth attempt to deliver a necklace ordered by Guo Wenyu, a nursing major who works as an intern at a hospital in Hanchuan, her home city.

When contacted by Yang at around 6 pm, Guo, who was again away from home, felt sorry for Yang's unsuccessful attempts over the past five days and asked him to leave the package at her door.

Her suggestion was refused by Yang, who thought it unsafe and came up with his own idea: to dig a hole in the flowerbed by the door and put the parcel in it.

Guo agreed and unearthed her necklace when she arrived home an hour later.
