Miscarriage of justice fears must be reported

The Supreme People's Procuratorate asked prosecuting departments to immediately report concerns over potential miscarriages of justice.

Any miscarriages can erode public confidence in social fairness and justice, Zhu Xiaoqing, deputy prosecutor of the SPP said earlier this week.

"Prosecuting departments at each level should ensure quality in handling cases, and prevent miscarriages from happening," he said.

Prosecuting departments must make sure the gathering of that evidence is done according to the law.

And they should not be reluctant to raise their voices if they have concerns.

"If they know that a miscarriage of justice is likely, but refuse to report their concerns to their superiors, they will be held criminally accountable," Zhu said.
