Eight college students trying to take part-time summer jobs were deceived by a training agency in Hefei, Anhui province, reported Hefei Evening News on Tuesday.

The four male and four female students, who study in Hefei, said they were sent by the agency to a township in Chaohu city, about 90 kilometers southeast of Hefei, to enroll middle and primary school students for a training class.

The working conditions were terrible, unlike those promised by the employer. Their sleeping conditions were of particular concern: the female students had beds without mattress, and the male students had pieces of cardboard.

The students left the agency at their own will on Monday after they received their wages and a refund of 200 yuan ($32.6), which they paid the agency as a deposit.

The Hefei education bureau said that the agency operates without a license.
