BEIJING - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has urged the country's cultural workers to acquire more inspiration from real life and make more innovative productions to meet people's spiritual demands.
Wen made the remarks here Tuesday at a meeting on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History (CRICH).
"Only when the whole world acknowledges the prosperity and influences of Chinese culture can we regard ourselves as really strong," said Wen, adding that the main task of the institute is to summarize the essence of China's history and culture to guide current development and boost confidence and unity of the nation.
While hailing CRICH members' work in researching history and culture over the past 60 years, Wen called upon them to provide more useful advice regarding state matters while showcasing Chinese culture to the world.
