July 9, 1926: The National Revolutionary Army pledges to launch the Northern Expedition

The Northern Expedition was a military campaign led by the Kuomintang from 1926 to 1928. Its main objective was to unify China by ending the rule of local warlords. It led to the demise of the Beiyang government and the Chinese reunification of 1928.

July 9—11, 1971: US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger takes a secret trip to China

This trip was to pave the way for then-President Richard Nixon's later visit to China, which became a historical event in the history of Sino-American Relations.
