China's Huawei unveils 4G mobile services in Azerbaijan

BAKU - Huawei Technologies, China's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, has launched a 4G mobile communications network in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, local media said Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR Vasif Talibov said that now people living in most distant villages of Nakhchivan can enjoy a high-speed internet thanks to a support provided by Global ICT solutions provider Huawei.

He said a new mobile network will provide consumers with advanced mobile internet services.

Addressing the ceremony, Dongliang Zhang, VP at HUAWEI Caucasus & Central Asia Region, said that the Ministry of Communication and New technologies of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and China's Huawei Technologies have started cooperation since 2002.

According to Zhang, the company has assisted the Nakhchivan State University to build a modern system of education, completed an installation of GSM and LTE network here.

Huawei, Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, pledged to assist Azerbaijan in developing a long-term national strategy for the improvement of the information and communication technologies sector.

The company has previously presented the given initiative in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkey by proposing assistance to the governments of these countries in developing a 10-year national strategy in ICT sector.
