China's second largest e-commerce player JD.com formed a strategic partnership with Autohome, a leading online portal for vehicle-related information, in an attempt to jointly develop the country's automobile e-commerce sector.

According to a press release from the NASDAQ-listed JD on Friday, Autohome is expected to officially gain access to the e-commerce player's business-to-customer platform and customer-to-customer marketplace on June 24.

Those who order cars on JD's e-commerce platforms between June 24 - 26, will be eligible to receive discounts. The partnership will help JD to expand its reach within the car sales market and further consolidate its status as an e-commerce player.
