White-collar workers in the energy, minerals and environmental protection sectors earned the most in annual bonuses in China, with an average of 24,655 yuan ($3,946.76), a report shows.

The report on the 2014 annual bonuses of China's white-collar workers was released on Jan 20 by Zhilian Recruiting, a large, China-based recruitment website.

The recruitment company collected the information from 10,151 respondents in China, and classified employment industries into thirteen categories, including energy, finance and information technology.

The service industry was at the bottom of all categories, with only 6,963 yuan bonus on average.

Despite the already big bonuses in the top three industries, Robin Li Yanhong, founder of Baidu Inc, said on Saturday at the company's annual meeting that certain staff at Baidu received an annual bonus that equals 50 months worth of staff salaries, but he did not disclose the detailed amount, according to a Sina report on Tuesday.

The annual bonuses of white-collar workers differ not only in various industries, but also in different cities.

Zhilian's report revealed that among the 32 major cities in China, white-collar workers in Beijing earned the most in annual bonuses, with an average of 19,280 yuan. Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, only offered 1,350 yuan.

The data also shows that only 15.8 percent of Zhilian's 10,151 respondents got their bonus, and 23 percent were promised a bonus after Spring Festival, which begins on Feb 18 and ends on Feb 24.
