Zuckerberg reveals high-tech Oculus gloves designed to touch the virtual world

Xinhua | Updated: 2017-02-11 15:32

WASHINGTON - Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has shown newly designed Oculus virtual reality (VR) gloves in Washington.

"We're working on new ways to bring your hands in virtual and augmented reality. Wearing these gloves, you can draw, type on a virtual keyboard, and even shoot webs like Spider Man. That's what I'm doing here," Zuckerberg wrote Thursday on his personal Facebook account.

The gloves appear to attach wirelessly to an Oculus VR headset which projects images to people as they move the gloves in real-time, and can help users type in thin air.

He experienced the high-tech vision in a Facebook-owned VR company's research lab in Washington, where a team led by chief scientist Michael Abrash works on next-generation hardware.

This is not the first time that interactive gloves have been used in the world of virtual reality.

VR gloves add to the virtual reality experience by allowing users to see and use their hands in virtual reality games.
