Rural living environments

Ninety percent of villages across the country have carried out cleaning initiatives. The penetration rate of sanitary toilets in rural areas has reached 60 percent, and 84 percent of administrative villages have been covered with household waste collection, transportation and a disposal system, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

From January to November 2019, the country has invested 49.81 billion yuan in rural drinking water safety, of which 12.17 billion yuan was from the central government, bringing benefits to 52.8 million people, and solving the drinking water safety problem for 960,000 poor people registered, according to the Ministry of Water Resources.
