Should the elderly get free bus rides?

(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2016-07-30 09:28

Dun (US)

The elderly who have retired do not travel during peak hours. Even if one is going to the bank, they can go during off-peak hours. And I think off-peak travel should be subsidized irrespective of who is traveling - young or old. It doesn't have to be free, because free services are not generally associated with respect... they're because of the assumption that the person or group of persons is unable to afford paying. And that's not necessarily the case with the elderly in China.
