Students at Karamay’s China University of Petroleum soaked up the inspirational words of famed entrepreneur Yu Minhong in the campus’s grand stadium, Sept 3.
Yu, a figure nationally recognized for his founding of the private education provider New Oriental Education and Technology Group, gave a rousing speech in which he challenged students to push their academic boundaries in pursuit of a beautiful life. The large audience, comprised of students, teachers, and curious locals, was visibly moved by Yu’s messages of hard work and perseverance.
Yu’s speech encouraged students to visualize their remaining years of college and imagine achieving the successes they seek. He also shared his own story and used a number of personal anecdotes to better illustrate his ideas.
“Life is a long journey and it is never too late to start working hard. One can only be considered a success or a failure once we reach our eternal resting place and in this way it doesn’t matter when you realize your dreams so long as you strive towards them once you do,” Yu said.
He also encouraged students to focus on their own endeavors rather than making comparisons with their peers.
“Focus on your own business and measure your achievements day-by-day. Making comparisons with others is meaningless and it will stop you from achieving your goals,” Yu said.
