A group of experts and government officials visited Karamay on July 1 to discuss preparatory work for the Belt and Road Initiative Forum, to be held in the city in August.

The participants reached a consensus on the schedule and major events to take place at the forum.

Zhao Baige, member of the National People's Congress standing committee praised the preparatory work that has been carried out so far.

Chen Xinfa, Karamay Party chief, emphasized that all efforts should be put towards making the forum a success and further developing it into an international event for the Belt and Road.

The event will focus on the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as regional cooperation and industry development. Working with other countries along the economic belt will be a major concern of the forum.

Karamay is expected to take advantage of its rich resources and location to play an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The forum will play host to seven sub-forums on infrastructure construction, energy cooperation, information industry, economic parks, living environment and city development, and culture industry.
