Karamay city in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is well-known for its abundant crude oil reserves and is often referred to as the “city of oil”. However, many other nicknames are also used to describe the city’s features.

City of gourmets

Visitors to Karamay should not miss the renowned local cuisine, such as Musailaisi wine, mixed noodles, whole roast lamb, Xinjiang spicy chicken, Karamay Liangpizi and bakednang, a kind of crusty pancake.

Sky city

Karamay boasts a comfortable living environment with blue sky, snow-white clouds, gorgeous sunshine and fresh air.
