The Teaching Achievements in Elementary Education Award Ceremony was held in Karamay on June 19 to honor tutors nationwide who excel in educating students.

The conference was cosponsored by the China Education Council and the Karamay People's Government. The event was also co-organized by the Karamay Education Bureau, the Karamay District People's Government and the Baijiantan District People's Government.

The conference aimed to promote the experience of elementary education methodology and innovate talent cultivation modes in primary schools.

Chen Xinfa noted that Karamay has been working hard in enhancing the city's education quality in order to better serve the city's ambition to build a "World Oil City." The city emphasizes international standards to bring in quality educational resources — both foreign and domestic.

Apart from the award ceremony, series of other activities were also held, including exhibitions, experience-sharing salons, themed forums and field trips to local primary schools in Karamay.

At the experience-sharing salon, people share their stories via video to show the progress Karamay’s educational system has made thus far. At the themed forum, speakers discussed the challenges facing schools as well as feasible solutions to these challenges

Delegates of the conference also visited Karamay No 1 Middle School, No 2 Middle School, Experiment School, Nanhu Middle School and Kangcheng Middle School, to better understand the Karamay Education.

Li Xigui, the president of Beijing 11th School, Yang Xuewen, the general manager of Xinjiang Oilfield Company, Song Hongli, the secretary of the Party's political and law committee andlocal officials from both Karamay’s municipal government and the Party's Karamay Municipal Government attended the ceremony. Over 1,500 teachers, educational experts and scholars from Beijing, Chongqing, Hunan, Hebei, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu and Sichuan, also attended the conferences.
