Karamay held a Maxrap dancing competition to mark the beginning of the city's 15th public-square culture competition, on May 14.

A total of nine delegations representing their sub-districts including Kunlun sub-district and Tianshan sub-district took part in the competition. The performances by both Han and Uygur artists in colorful ethnic costumes focused mainly on paying tribute to the beauty of each area's local environment.
