The Shixi Oilfield Workers' Library was recently recognized as a demonstration library by the 2015 All China Federation of Trade Unions.

The library received 878 books, worth 30,000 yuan ($4,602), as gifts focusing on legal matters, economic and management topics, history, literature and art.

The All China Federation of Trade Unions launched a cultural construction project to improve workers all-around skills in 2008.

The library was the only one in Karamay that was recognized as a national demonstration workers' library in November 2015.

The library was established in December 1997, and has served as a venue for various kinds of reading activities.

In recent years, the library bought more books to better serve the workers and has gained increasing popularity.

So far, the library has more than 6,500 books and magazines on technology, law and regulations. It has positioned itself to be a center to improve workers’ abilities in all areas.
