The Karamay Cloud Computing Industrial Park will be a national demonstration park for cloud computing and an ecological and knowledge-intensive industrial park, the Karamay Daily reported.
The industrial park will mainly focus on seven industries: cloud computing, e-commerce, software, geological information and satellite applications, service outsourcing, cultural creativity and the internet of things. Industries such as electronic products manufacturing, IT educational training, internet finance and information consultation will also be developed.
Covering an area of 11 square kilometers, the industrial park began construction on May 19, 2013. Being the only cloud computing industrial park in the entire Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, it has attracted participation from many companies such as CNPC (the China National Petroleum Company), China Mobile, and Huawei .
Karamay also built an e-commerce platform for cross-border businesses with Asia and Europe. It hopes to connect over 10,000 domestic and overseas companies. On Sept 26, 2014, Xinjiang-Middle Asia Trading Center, the nation's first sales platform based on cloud computing, went online.
