The 23rd World Investment Conference (WIC) is set to take place during the 2018 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), according to the fair's organizing committee.

The 2018 CIFIT is to be held in Xiamen, Fujian province, from Sept 8 to 11.

Organized by the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), this annual meeting will bring together Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) from all around the world, government officials, development sector leaders, private sector representatives and academics relevant to foreign direct investment (FDI) policy and strategy.

There's a trend that FDI has started flowing from developed to developing countries this year, representative from WAIPA said.

Therefore, methods to link local enterprises with FDI companies in the country will be the focus of this year's WIC.

The two themes of CIFIT – introducing investment and investing overseas – fit neatly into the annual meeting's list of topics.

"CIFIT, an international investment and trade promotion platform with widespread influence, is the first choice as WIC's partner," a representative said.

Various investment promotional activities are expected to be set up by the organizing committee of the WIC and CIFIT during the 2018 fair to help Chinese companies become better acquainted with the latest trends in the global economy.

WAIPA is an international non-governmental organization established in 1995 by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development that acts as a forum for investment promotion agencies and promotes best practice in investment promotion.
