Art Gallery: spreading Chinese culture to world

As we arrived at Sanfu Art Gallery at dusk, the magnificent building sitting in a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere gave my media partners and me a sense of solemnity and mystery.

Located in Xianyou county, Fujian province, Sanfu Art Gallery is an art palace for the exhibition of rosewood culture. It has four floors, and our destination is the fourth. A large amount of national-treasure-level furniture is displayed there, including the national gifts of APEC China 2014.

As one of the first of China's modern woodcarving masters, Huang Fuhua, the owner of Sanfu Art Gallery, participated in the design and production of the national gifts for APEC China 2014.

Huang has been devoted to spreading Chinese traditional culture to the world for over a decade. When the APEC informal economic leaders'meeting was held in Beijing in 2014, he seized the opportunity of presenting one of China's cultural profundities to the world.

Huang has two brothers, Huang Fuzhong and Huang Fuzhen. The "Fu" in their names is where "Sanfu" originates.

The Sanfu brothers come from a family with a long history of wood carving. Influenced by their father, a reputable folk woodcarving artist, the Sanfu brothers are all committed to protecting and inheriting the woodcarving and rosewood culture.

"The true value of an art gallery is inheriting the Chinese traditional culture and meanwhile infusing modern elements into the old ones," said Huang Fuhua. Those aren't just words: Sanfu Art Gallery, a kind of cultural ambassador, displays to visitors contemporary treatments of the five-thousand-year rosewood culture.
