As the ninth BRICS Summit nears, Xiamen resident Zhang Xiaoliang has been increasingly busy sharing his album of photography works designed to showcase the beauty of the coastal city in Fujian province.

Zhang is a keen photographer who goes by the pseudonym “heizi” online. He has spent years walking the streets and countryside of Xiamen, capturing more than 100,000 shots of daily life and beautiful scenery in the city.

Yet he has never sold one picture and never added watermarks to any of his shots. When real estate companies and government organizations sought him out to ask if they could use his photos, he offered them his works for free, simply because he likes promoting his hometown via his photography works.

Zhang enjoys snapping Xiamen from unusual angles. He often scouts a location several times and waits hours for the perfect time to take his photos. He has shot some places again and again to explore the beauty of them.

When his album debuted last year on WeChat Moments, netizens commented that the photos are documentary-perfect.
