Fujian province received 15.43 million tourists during the 2016 Spring Festival holiday (Feb 7-13), and tourism revenue hit a record high of 10.37 billion yuan ($1.58 billion), according to statistics from the provincial tourism bureau.

Fujian launched seven tourism routes featuring hot springs, tea, the Maritime Silk Road, red culture, sightseeing and cross-Straits tours, along with over 300 celebrations.

Quanzhou, one of several venues for China Central Television's Spring Festival Gala for the year of the Monkey, amazed the nationwide audience with its Maritime Silk Road culture and cross-Straits culture. Wenmiao Temple, the main gala stage, attracted flocks of visitors. Other temples in Fujian, including Chengtian Temple, Lingying Temple and Shaolin Temple, were also full of pilgrims.

A report by two reputable tourism portals - Ctrip.com and LY.com – suggested that Fujian was the second most popular destination in the country.
