Xiamen unveils plan for Metro Line 6

According to a report entitled "Latest Construction Plan for Xiamen Urban Rail Transit (2015-2022)," Xiamen's Metro network will cover 6 routes with a combined rail length of 231.32 kilometers. Recently, plans for Xiamen Metro Line 6 were unveiled.

Xiamen Metro Line 6 will run through Haicang, Jimei and Tong'an districts, covering a planned length of 44.5 kilometers with 27 stations.

The plan also revealed some adjustments to Metro lines 2 and 3. Four more stations will be added to the originally planned 19 stations for phase one of Metro Line 2 (Lu Keng Station to Wuyuan Bay Station), and the number of planned stations for phase one of the Metro Line 3 (Xiamen Railway Station to Wuyuan Bay Station) will be reduced from 16 to 13.

Meanwhile, new construction projects for the Metro lines were announced as follows:

Metro Line 2 (Phase 2): Tianzhu Mountain Station to Lu Keng Station

Total length: 15.53 kilometers

Total number of stations: 9

Metro Line 3 (Phase 2): Wuyuan Bay Station to Xiang’an International Airport

Total length: 22.56 kilometers

Total number of stations: 13

Metro Line 4 (Phase 1): Xiamen North Railway Station to Xiang’an International Airport

Total length: 38.24 kilometers

Total number of stations: 8

Metro Line 1, which links Xiamen Island and Jimei District, is expected to be put into trial operation in October 2017. On Wednesday morning, part of the construction site between Jiangjunci and Wenzao collapsed due to sedimentation of the gravel bed. No casualties were reported in the accident.
