A man from east China’s Fujian province living in South Africa was brutally murdered in a hotel, according to news from www.people.com.cn on Jan 19.

The 34-year-old man left his younger male cousin’s home on Jan 18 at 9 pm and returned to his own shop. He was found dead at about 9 am the next day with both his hands firmly tied and stab wounds to the head.

According to local police, due to lack of real-time monitoring recording at the scene, the murder process is unclear and the case is now under investigation.

Officials with the Chinese Consulate-General in South Africa rushed to the scene to provide full support and assistance to the victims’ family and have asked local police to catch the murderer as soon as possible.

It’s the second tragedy for overseas Chinese being murdered in South Africa in 2015. On Jan 2, a 25-year-old woman was robbed and stabbed to death with severe wounds to the head in Limpopo province in South Africa. The victim’s family later received a total of 135,000 yuan ($21,710) in donations.
