As one of three parts consisting of the free trade zone (FTZ) in Fujian province, Fuzhou city will roll out more measures and incentives to benefit people – especially tourists and shoppers.

Fuzhou boasts competitiveness in the modern financial industry, modern manufacturing, cross-Straits e-commerce, and the marine economy as well as service trades, according to an official with the municipal FTZ office.

To strengthen those industries, Fuzhou plans to promote a series of people’s livelihood projects including an e-commerce platform, an imported food trading market and a passenger ferry terminal in Langqi Island, he added.

It means that after completion of those projects, local residents can buy imported food and commodities more easily and at a much lower price. Tourists outside Fujian are likely to be able to apply for travel permits to Taiwan in Fuzhou. In addition, Taiwanese vehicles are expected to be allowed to drive in Fuzhou.
