BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Prosecutors opened investigations into two officials in southeast China's Fujian Province and south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for bribery, said the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Thursday.

The two officials were Ke Zhimin, a former economic planning official for the Xiamen City government in Fujian, and Lu Qinhua, former vice mayor of Qinzhou City in Guangxi. They are being investigated in different cases.

The SPP statement said that Lu was "placed under coercive measures" and Ke was not, but did not offer explanation.

According to China's criminal procedure law, coercive measures include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest. The SPP did not specify which measures have been taken so far.
