Fu Haiyan, deputy-dean of the school of history of Central China Normal University (CCNU), stressed at the seminar that experts on both sides should cooperate to promote shipyard culture development.

“Fuzhou is the origin of shipyard culture, and the international influence of the merits of Mawei shipyard culture should be improved,” said Fu.

According to Wu Xi-ho, an associate professor from Taiwan Meiho University, the seminar has provided a good platform for cross-Straits communication and cooperation on shipyard culture and will also strengthen cross-Straits ties.

A total of 15 experts from both sides made keynote speeches at the seminar, and the content of their speeches has involved the history and future prospects of Fujian’s Maritime Silk Road development, shipyard culture on talent cultivation and shipyard celebrities.

The shipyard culture seminar was established in 2003, and its influence has gradually expanded. More and more experts and scholars from Taiwan have joined the seminar starting from the 4th shipyard culture seminar, when Taiwan experts were invited for the first time.
