Xi Jinping visits troops in Fujian

Xi Jinping, Chinese President and Chairman of the PRC Central Military Commission, extended festival greetings to military personnel during his visit to Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian province, on July 30, just days ahead of the 87th anniversary of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Xi said that all levels in the army should enhance their capabilities in stride with the military’s development and reform. Military members also ought to avoid practices such as formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance, he said.

Xi also called for absolute loyalty to CPC leadership and a zero-tolerance attitude towards military corruption.

As he worked in Fujian for 17 years, President Xi has always been concerned about the province’s soldiers as well as its army’s construction. He held formal talks with 11 representatives of the base’s army and government and conveyed his appreciation for those who contribute to national defense.

Fan Changlong and Xu Qiliang, the deputy chairmen of the PRC Central Military Commission; You Quan, the Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee; and Su Shulin, the governor of Fujian also attended the event.
