The construction authority in Fuzhou city, the capital of Fujian province, issued an order on July 14 banning many kinds of outdoor work when temperatures rise over 40 degrees Celsius.
The amount of time spent working outdoors cannot exceed six hours when the high is between 37 and 40 degrees, the Fuzhou Urban and Rural Construction Committee added.
The order also stated that employers will be held accountable for heatstroke prevention efforts at work sites. This includes reducing work intensity and outdoor work time, circulating health knowledge among laborers, providing medicine, and more.
