The Fujian government has released a new regulation on expenditures on foreign receptions, Strait Herald reports on Tuesday, quoting the provincial finance department.

All Party and government organs as well as mass organizations are supposed to accommodate foreign guests for five days at most. The guests will have to cover their expenses beyond that period.

The regulation streamlines standards for accommodation of foreign officials at different levels.

Foreign delegations led by a vice-minister or above can be arranged in five-star hotels, whereas those led by a department head or below are supposed to lodge in four-star hotels at most.

Buffets are encouraged for meals in foreign receptions. The daily cap for a head of a state or government chief is 600 yuan ($96); 550 yuan for vice-presidents, prime ministers or parliament speakers; 550 yuan for officials at minister levels; and 300 yuan for the rest.

The regulation also provides new standards on banquets and transportation fees for foreign guests.
