Nanjing High-tech Industrial Zone

The Nanjing High-tech Industrial Zone was established in March 2000 with a planned area of 12 square kilometers and was approved as a provincial development zone in December 2005. As the only zone of its kind in Zhangzhou, it helps the city attract foreign investment. It has the downtown to the east and Longyan to the west, and borders Guangdong province. Meanwhile, it has become a key electronics industry base across the Taiwan Straits. The traffics in the High-tech Industrial Zone is convenient,with national Rd 319 and the Zhangzhou-Longyan and Shenhai highways, and the road between Nanjing county and Zhangzhou's downtown. It takes 45 minutes to get to Xiamen International Airport and Xiamen Port.

The zone is involved in high-level planning, urban layouts and construction and has plans for six industrial parks in electronic information, biotechnology, machine manufacturing, fine chemical engineering, Straits printing operations, and small to mid-sized industry. After eight years of development, it has 72 companies on more than 333 hectares of ground, bringing in 4.6 billion yuan ($747.8 million) in investment. In 2009, its industrial output totaled 7 billion yuan and it earned $480 million from exports and paid 240 million yuan in taxes. It has eight industrial groups in electronic information, food processing, automobile accessories, hardware, furniture, mold making, chemical coatings, and polymer lithium batteries and has brought in investors from a dozen countries and regions including Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States, and the Philippines, with the focus on electronic information, machine manufacturing and equipment industry, new energies, bio-medicines, print, and packaging.
