A meeting was recently held in Beijing to discuss ways to enhance the medical value of the wood of aloe.

Organized by the Beijing Guoxiang Agalwood Medical Research and Development Center, the symposium emphasized the tree's use in traditional Chinese medicine.

It is also used for making incense sticks, bracelets and essential oil.

The industry body has made research on aloe wood’s medicinal value a key focus. Experts at the symposium said that the tree parts have been widely used for TCM treatment. But to have enough of it for medical research, the industry body has established a protection base in southern China.
