SHBite

Started six years ago as a food delivery platform for the expat community in Jing’an, SHBite’s increasing popularity and recent expansion to the rest of the city are proof of its quality service.

The website now works with over 90 restaurants in town, 60 percent of which are Western, offering pizza and the like. The other 40 percent feature other cuisines, ranging from Japanese sushi to Vietnamese pho, to local Shanghainese cuisine.

It also boasts its own wine cellar and a small grocery store stocking fresh fruits, chocolate bars, and chips. Craving for something that’s off the list?

The website promises their delivery boys will scour the stores for you even in the wee hours of the night.

The delivery fee is 12 yuan per order for 3 kilometers (from your home to the restaurant or store, or the office of the website), and 4 yuan per extra kilometer.

Their hotline is bilingual, and, in fact, the English-speaking staff appears more familiar with their offerings. Last orders should be placed before 11:30 pm, but the website spokesperson says that they are considering extending it early into the morning for the World Cup weeks.

Sherpa’s

As one of the oldest and largest food delivery websites in town, Sherpa’s has creatively launched their "It’s all balls" deal for football lovers "who are too busy glued to the TV screen to sleep, bathe, and work, let alone cook." A total of 40 restaurants out of the website’s 200 partners are joining the deal by serving dishes related to balls, such as meatballs or fishballs. The discount is as high as 50 percent off. The restaurants and menus are fully listed on the website.
